Storm Awareness

Fall is knocking our door.  If you have lived in Eastern North Carolina for any amount of time, you already know how severe the weather can get with the changing seasons.

 

From drenching, flooding rains to impossibly strong winds and the electric busting lightening, precautions are a must.

Here are a few tips that may help you out when the time comes.

 

*Trim up any trees of any diseased or weak branches.

 

*Keep loose items in your yard to a bare minimum.

 

*Start buying large packs of water in case of a power outage that can       last for several days.

 

*Easy open canned foods and ready to eat foods are great to have on   hand.

 

*Batteries are a necessity, be sure to check the date on any you   already have.

 

*If you have a generator, make sure it is in good operation.

 

*Candles and matches, flashlights, oil lamps are all good to have. 

 Supervision for younger family members while using these is   paramount.

 

*A well stocked first aid kit is nice to have on hand.

 

*As always, help an older neighbor who may be low on supplies.

 

*Make sure your pets are taken care of.  After all, they depend on us for   everything we take for granted.
